Safety Practices

Safety is operational, not decorative. This page describes the practices we run day to day. It is a description of our own procedures, not a claim of external certification or approval.

Drivers

Drivers are screened before they carry passengers and complete training in safe transfers, wheelchair securement, passenger assistance and defensive driving. Required credentials are tracked with expiry dates in our operations system, and a driver with an expired required credential is blocked from being assigned a trip unless an administrator records a documented override.

Vehicles

Vehicles are inspected on a recurring schedule and before shifts. A vehicle can be placed under a safety hold, which prevents any new trip assignment until the issue is cleared. Wheelchair and stretcher capability is recorded per vehicle, and a vehicle that is not equipped for a requested service type cannot be dispatched to that trip.

During the ride

Drivers provide door-through-door assistance, verify the passenger before departure, secure mobility devices and confirm seat belts before moving. Drivers do not provide clinical care. If a passenger's condition appears to be an emergency, the driver stops and calls 911.

Incidents and complaints

Drivers can file an incident report from the vehicle. Incidents and complaints are logged, reviewed, and where appropriate tracked to a corrective action with an owner and a due date. To report a concern, call dispatch or email support@lyfecaretransit.com.

Emergencies

We are not an emergency service. For any medical emergency, call 911 first, then notify dispatch so we can adjust the schedule.
